If you are a student and wish to enter this contest, please click on the email icon on the right and send this information to your Japanese teacher.
Step 1:
Print off a Parental Consent Form for each student you are entering in the contest (up to three) and ask the parent/guardian of each applicant to sign it.
Step 2:
Record your student's video speech and save it to your computer in one of the following formats: avi, mov, wmv, mpg, mpeg or mp4. We recommend using a webcam or digital still camera with movie capability (on lowest quality) in order to keep the video file size as low as possible. The maximum file size you can upload is 20MB, so if your file is over 20MB you will need to compress it. View our digital tutorial on how to compress your video file in Windows Movie Maker.
Step 3:
Ask your student to type up the transcript of the speech in Japanese. If your student is unable to type the speech, please ask him/her to hand-write the speech in Japanese and then scan it and save it as an electronic file.
Step 4:
Complete the online application form and upload your student's speech transcript. Complete a separate application form for each student. You will be sent a username and password in order to upload your speech video, within 24 hours.
Step 5:
Login to the site using the form at the bottom of this page, then go to the Video upload page in the Online Speech Contest menu (you can only access this once logged in). Click on the upload tab and follow the steps to upload your video file. Be sure to enter a title and description that includes your school name and student's name, so that we can accurately match your video to your application.
The due date for applications is Friday 4th June, 2010.
